On September 9th, 2010 Southern California Edison become construction on its Tehachapi Resource Renewal Project. The project, first proposed in mid 2007, was created with the intention of providing clean and renewable energy from the wind farms in Tehachapi, CA to Edison's customers throughout Southern California. This involved the construction of multiple 200ft, 500Kv towers along a predetermined and prepurchased 150ft wide easement. From its inception, the project drew immediate criticism from the city of Chino Hills, CA, where hundreds of residents would be subjected to the unknown effects of living in close proximity to these towers. Concerned for the safety, security, and property values of its citizens, the city of Chino Hills spent 2.4 million dollars over the course of four years fighting SCE in court. In the summer of 2011, as construction continued and the city's legal cases began to look bleak, the citizens of Chino Hills chose to rise up and take over where their elected officials left off.
