Affordable Care Act Moot Court Event at The California Endowment
On Tuesday, March 13, just two weeks before the United States Supreme Court hears oral arguments on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, The California Endowment, 89.3 KPCC and many of California's most distinguished law schools brought together a bipartisan mix of renowned legal minds and policy experts to hear and argue the case that will decide the health status of millions. The moot court event offered an exclusive look into the highly anticipated US Supreme Court case Department of Health and Human Services v. State of Florida by specifically examining the lawfulness of the Affordable Care Act's minimum coverage requirement. Two of the nation's preeminent appellate litigators argued the case: California Endowment counsel Kathleen M. Sullivan, partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP and Former Dean of Stanford Law, will argue for its constitutionality opposite Theodore Boutrous, partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LLP.
