Courts in Connecticut
Court Records, Directory And News in CT
The Connecticut Judicial Branch operates Connecticut's state court system. Connecticut's trial courts are called superior courts. There are four divisions of superior courts in Connecticut – civil, criminal, family, and juvenile. The civil division handles administrative appeals, landlord-tenant, and small claims cases, in addition to general civil matters. Connecticut has a separate probate court, as well as its appellate (appeals) courts, and the Connecticut Supreme Court.

With the exception of most juvenile court records, and records sealed by the court, most Connecticut court documents are available to the public. Further information regarding the availability of specific court records can be found at http://www.jud.ct.gov/faq/courtrec.html. To obtain copies of Connecticut court records, contact the court that you are seeking records from. Basic information about some Connecticut court cases can be found through the Connecticut Judicial Branch's Case Look-Up online database at http://www.jud.ct.gov/jud2.htm. This system includes information on civil, family, criminal, motor vehicle, housing, small claims, appeals, and Supreme Court cases, but doesn't include copies of any case documents. You can search the online database by party name, attorney name, or case number, and can also view all court events by date.
