Hockessin Colored School #107C
The school that one student's family didn't want her to attend so they took the case to court. Although they won in Delaware, the case was appealed to the US Supreme Court where it was combined with 5 similar cases to become Brown v. Board of Education. After desegregation, the school closed and became a community center. Unable to pay for renovations, the center faces a August 27 deadline to pay the contractor or go to sheriff's sale. The property is located in what is now one of Delaware's wealthiest communities.
