Alison : For those of you that applaud the daily freeman for the photo posted of Mr Mathews today in the daily freeman shame on you! For the person responsible for that article I see why it is that you are employed by the worst paper to be published and for the person responsible for approving the article and photo you should resign for your desicion to allow that article and photo to go to print was one of poor judgement. What Mr. Mathews did was wrong but for anyone to forget the service he served us for many years in trying to keep our city free from drugs and gangs is criminal on your part. To Mr. Mathews....I thank you for all that you did do for us and for the the good you did and will always be thankful for you.

Brenda : Are you kidding me? Alison you should be ashamed of yourself for supporting this criminal, who posed as a police officer. You're obviously related to this low life. It is irrelevant what good he may have done. His actions show me that he had no regards for his family, friends, fellow law enforcement officers & the citizens of that county. It is clear that he was very comfortable with committing these crimes. So I have no doubt whatsoever, that Mathews didn't just start stealing. He has been doing this for many many years. Theres a saying in law enforcement that for each crime a subject is arrested for, that they have gotten away with dozens of crimes that they will never be charges with. Mathews is no exception to this rule. He committed sereral dozens of felonies, & was only charged with very few. This was done because he plead guilty? Mathews should have been charged with multiple counts of organized scheme to defraud & every count of theft, along with any & all other relevant charges. This way the public knows what the defendant has actually been charged with. Then they negotiate & can reduce charges, as they did. Mathews should be praying to god everyday for the sentence he was given along with all the other considerations he was afforded. He really got off very lightly considering what crimes he committed. It is apparent that they did give him a huge break because he was a police officer. Not to mention the fact that Mathews was allowed to retire & therefore is allowed all of his benefits that go along with that. Thats a huge slap in the face to every person in that county. He was a police officer, committed numerous criminal offenses, sentenced to prison and still gets a retirement & all other benefits. Wow, what a deal. And people wonder why criminals continue to committ crimes? Id have to say in this case crime does pay! I can't believe that the public isn't enraged over this case. I certainly am! Mathews, along with all law enforcement officers are held to a higher standard than a citizen. A law enforcement officer that has committed numerous felony offenses, sentenced to prison, is at the lowest level of society. As I stated in the beginning, it's irrelevant what good he may have done. He is now a convicted felon, sentenced for stealing money from three different county organizations, which is partially funded by our tax dollars. Each & everyone of you in that county should contact the the prosecutors office to pursue having his retirement, pension & all benefits are withdrawn & Mathews is terminated from employment, & you the taxpayers aren't stuck paying this low life criminal a dime! Come on people, stand up for your rights & what's right! Terminate Mathews!
