It was 1974 and talk about sexual orientation was taboo in small town Iowa. It took her even longer to broach the subject with her sons, and only lately with her friends. For a long time, Bonnie Anderson carried a lot of guilt wondering what she had done wrong and shouldering the blame for the failure of the marriage. She read and read and read, trying to understand same sex attraction. Then, her younger son told her he was gay. Today, she lauds the unanimous decision of the Iowa Supreme Court to legalize gay marriage.
WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — The mother of one of two slain Iowa cousins has been returned to custody to await trial on drug charges. The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier says 37-year-old Misty Cook-Morrissey was arrested Monday on allegations that she had violated terms of her pretrial release.
