Kurt Budke Career Highlights
This video documents the career highlights of Coach Kurt Budke. It's public debut was in Salina, Kansas as part of the dedication ceremony for Kurt Budke Court on March 24, 2012. This coincided with the NJCAA Women's National Basketball Tournament. The basketball court was dedicated right before the championship game between the Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals and the Hutchinson Community College Dragons. Budke won four national championship titles while coaching at Trinity Valley, and was also the youngest person inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame. He went on to build successful programs at Louisiana Tech and Oklahoma State University before we lost him in a tragic plane crash on November 17, 2011. Although Kurt was admired for his achievements as a player and coach in the basketball world, he surpassed all of that as a son, brother, husband, father, friend and, to me, a brother-in-law. This project seemed daunting at first since the pain of losing Kurt was still relatively fresh. But, as it progressed and seemed to piece itself together, it became therapeutic for me as I worked with the rest of the family and Kurt's friends to complete this video.
