Courts in Minnesota
Court Records, Directory And News in MN
Minnesota's State Court system is very simple – it consists of District Courts, a Court of Appeals, and the Minnesota Supreme Court. Minnesota's District Courts are trial courts that hear juvenile, criminal, domestic relations, traffic, and ordinance violation cases, as well as other types of general civil cases. If you're appealing a District Court decision in Minnesota, you would file this in the Minnesota Court of Appeals. The Court of Appeals handles all District Court appeals as well as appeals of administrative agency decisions, such as workers' compensation appeals. The Minnesota Supreme Court is the state's 'court of last resort' and hears appeals filed following Appeals Court decisions.

Information regarding Minnesota court records for specific cases can be accessed through the Minnesota Judicial Branch's website at http://www.mncourts.gov/default.aspx?page=1927. Here you can search by party, case number, or attorney, and can view information including case calendars, party information, and the results of any closed case. Minnesota's District courts also offer electronic terminals at their courthouses where you can view case information. Paper copies of court documents can also be obtained at service desks here.
