SAN ANTONIO (AP) — The Bexar (bayr) County district attorney will not pursue the death penalty against the man charged in the shooting death last summer of a police chief. District Attorney Nicholas LaHood on Tuesday cited Joshua Manuel Lopez's mental health and lack of criminal record as reasons the penalty will not be sought if he's convicted.

SAN ANTONIO — A Texas Department of Corrections lieutenant was arrested Tuesday on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child. John Randall, 36, was taken into custody by members of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit at the Ruben M. Torres Correctional Facility in Hondo, where he has worked since May 2012.
