At a young age, Kionne L. McGhee was raised in Naranja Housing projects and attended Miami Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS). While attending MDCPS, he was labeled Emotionally Handicapped and placed in special education. He was suspended more than twenty times, absent more than 100 days, scored 580 out of a possible 1600 on the SAT, and graduated number 252 out of a possible 285 graduates with a 2.0 gpa.
